Lovely Day Today

My roommate is making our back porch into Paradise. I'm awed by what she can accomplish. What you see here is only a piece of what all four sides are like. There's also a porch swing and a fountain. I used to think that I could watch someone work all day, but she wears me out! She tells me she loves it, though. Yesterday I helped her by having my nap outside on the swing where she was working. I think she appreciated it. When more energetic workers showed up I gave up my spot. We all pitch in here.
Will was right though, everything is turning green and growing fast. I began mowing the lawn this evening but stopped when my roommate came out and begged me to let her do it. That always happens to me when I start mowing! I get five minutes into it and someone else takes over. My Dad explained that its because the whole point of mowing a lawn is to make it look nice. I tell him I can get it looking nice if he'd just give me a few more tries to fix the gashes and misses and squiggly lines. Well, I never could. I thought that maybe now that I'm a for real grown up since my last birthday that lawn mowing abilities would now be within reach. I guess you never know until you try.
I think I'll have an artistic rock lawn display instead of grass, or maybe a soft and springy thyme ground cover. Thyme loves to be walked on and delivers a delicious smell with every step you take. Or what lawn ideas do you have?

Hee. I never cared what the lawn looked like when I mowed it, just as long as it got mowed. When it got too out of hand, I just left it till my little brother came back from the States and let him do it... wasn't that nice of me? :-D

I understand completely. I'm glad this is something we can share. Togetherness is happiness in my world - even if its just about mowing the lawn.
