So I've learned a valuable lesson. Just because someone does a photoshoot with you does not mean they are committed to moving out to Vancouver with you to get started on the road to glory when the weather is warm enough to chance living there (in case you get evicted and have to live on the street and/or panhandle.)
Has that ever happened to you? All evidence supports your belief in a certain outcome - and out of the clear blue sky falls the rainburst of reality leaving you soaking wet and mystified.
How could Eliza turn us down? I guess its only until we are rich and famous. So, I guess she is just wanting to skip sleeping on the grass in some Vancouver park with other hopeful musicians. I really can't blame her for that. She never was an outdoorsy type. When we used to sleep outside on the trampoline in the summer, guess who snuck back inside when the cold draft underneath us got bitter and made our toes white, that's right ... it was me. I mean Eliza. No, wait, it was Eliza who wanted me to sleep outside with her. Okay now I'm confused. If I'm the outdoor pansy, why doesn't Eliza want to be in our band?

The Band

This is the newest member of our band, Eliza Joy. She was reluctant to join us at first.

She was firm about earning money and going to college but, after I found her a rockin outfit to wear, she dropped all that nonsense. As Jon, our big brother, pointed out in one of our planning sessions for stardom - college leads to nothing but broken dreams. It was so warming to see Eliza pick up my new guitar and break it in to the tune of When You Say Nothing At All.
I knew we'd made the right decision for her life. She's going to be so much happier riding the fickle yet worthwhile road to garage band glory with us than getting stuck in some 9 to 5 career! Wouldn't you say?

This entry is a test. It is only a test. If it were a real blog I would have lots of fun pictures and exciting stories to go with them. I'd like to know how to put pictures up. Yesturday I told my sister how much I appreciate all the pictures she puts up for me on facebook. I informed her that she could go ahead and keep up the good work. She rolled her eyes and said to the ceiling, "Teach your sister how to upload pictures and she can do it for the rest of her life, do it for her..." I finished the obvious ending to her sentence, " And you are her slave for the rest of your life!" My other sisters laughed. Presumably to encourage Gloria to lighten up about her role as my technical support for life.
All the technology I use is thanks to her. Cell phone, digital camera, facebook, um ... that music thing that isn't a tape or CD. You know, its small and it gets its music from the computer... yes, that thing! Gloria and I bought a video camera to capture the drama of our lives and the lives of important people to us for our posterity. And maybe also for our fans to enjoy after we've become rich and famous. In April we, all my sisters and I are starting a band. I'm a little behind the rest of them. I only got my guitar last week. Today I begin learning to play it. Hopefully tomorrow I can begin writing songs. Virginia already has close to ten songs written. I don't know how many Gloria and Maren have written - but its more than me. It's looking like our first album will have two CDs in it. Gloria wrote me a note during church that she has all the hook-ups for getting us recorded. She says she's also going to get a recording program for the laptop she's going to get. And the sisters told me I could take an African drumming course so I know what I'm doing when I accompany them. So really I should have bought drums instead of a guitar, but we only decided to be a band yesturday.
There everyone was ... taking up the guitar and writing songs and going jogging and experimenting with body piercings and/or hair colors. It was a natural next step. Being a band is even tighter than being best friend-sisters. There's more involvement and commitment. I think its what I have been waiting my whole life for. I can hardly wait for Gloria to take pictures of us with my digital camera she gave me and then put them up on my blogsite for me. Then my life will be complete! I will be in a famous band (since now our picture is up for public viewing) and have a real blog entry!
