Would you be the one they were all following?
Are you in the middle?
Or at the back. Way at the back. In fact, maybe not even having your red swim cap on. And by the time you do they would have gotten back, all cold and seaweed covered with slimy unknowns between their toes and sand in their shorts, they would tell you between shivers what a good time you missed. And you would pretend to be regretful and tell them to make sure and let you know when they were doing that again.
- "Oh No! I can't believe I missed out on Run into Cold Lake Day again. Bad Luck! Oh and you guys even dragged me out of bed to come here and bought me a ridiculous red swim cap and everything! Curse this little plastic thing anyway. By the time I figured out how to get it on you guys were back and ...will it never work out?!
- "Hey, but don't forget to include me next time. I love coming out here with you guys in early Spring to catch a chill - not a chill - I mean its so chill hanging out with you reckless water enthusiasts. Don't ever change, you're awesome! No one pulls off a red swim cap as good as you!"

I would be the one who is a the back who once my toes hit the cold water would have stop dead cold and come to my senses and realized that I was in the wrong place and that I should be somewhere warm drinking hazelnut hot chocolate.
Me too! We should hang out more! Hazlenut hot chocolate...mmm.
